The Town With More Than 100 Twins…

twins towns

People are always attracted to twins, in fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States in 2017, 33 of every 1000 births were twins.

Codinhi in India and Candido Godoi in Brazil have a large number of twins.

Although heredity is thought to be the cause, research suggests that multiple births may be related to the eating habits of women in the region.

Identical and fraternal twins are the most common, but many other rare types are also present in this location. Let’s learn some mysterious things about Twins:

  1. Kodinhi (KODINHI):

Kodinhi is a remote and quiet village in India’s Kerala Malappuram, which is a mystery to researchers. There is a maximum number of twins in this village.

There are at least 400 twins in this village with a population of 2,000 families.

According to official estimates, in 2008 there were 280 pairs of twins in the village, but the number has increased significantly in the following years, residents say.

In Kodinhi, the national average of twin births is no more than 9 per 1000 births but here in this village, it is as high as 45 per 1000.

In October 2016, some researchers visited the village to find the answer to this phenomenon. “Many say that it is genetic, some even say that some element of wind or water in the village may be the cause of this phenomenon.

In Oct 2016, some researchers visited the village to seek out the solution to the present situation. “Many say that it’s genetic, some even say that some part of wind or water within the village is also the reason for this situation.

“By our study, we collected samples from the Kodinhi, but so far no scientific explanation could be found for this event,” Dr Pritham said.

  1. Alabat

It is an island in the Philippines, where the main business is fishing. The village has historically had a high rate of twins, with a population of only about 15,000, and over 100 pairs of twins.

The island is world-famous for the number of twins (Alabat Twins island) and the locals dress the twins in the same clothes, making them difficult to identify.

The number of twins has also increased in Alabat over the years.

Between 1996 and 2006, the use of fertility drugs led to a 182% increase in multiple pregnancies among 35-year-old women.

So far no scientist has studied why the number of twins is so high in this place.

Similarly in Brazil, there is a place called “Land of Twins”. The secret behind the twins has not been revealed yet.

Brazil’s small farm city has a population of about 6,600, of whom at least 700 are twins. One in ten pregnancies is a twin, and this number is much more than twice the rate of the global average.

The city has a statue of a woman standing with twins. By organizing a biennial party around the idol, these people celebrate the joy of being in the “Land of Twins”

A shocking and questionable theory is that Joseph Mengele a Nazi doctor, known as the “Angel of Death”, conducted genetic experiments in this village in 1963.

According to some reports, Mengele travelled to the south of Brazil in the 1960s. Experiments were conducted on women using nicknames such as Veterinarians, resulting in an increase in the number of twins.

That theory has been discredited as fiction. However, Mengele died in Brazil in 1979, and he conducted deadly experiments on twins in Auschwitz, trying to increase the Aryan birth rate.

Some residents also believe that the twins are caused by the water of their village, while others say that there is some mysterious mineral there.

But scientists have found that the genetic predisposition of extraterrestrial societies may have led to an increase in the number of twins in the region.

Especially in the Linha São Pedro district, the story of these twins is a bit much.

A village in Ukraine is called the “birthplace of twins” because it is home to a total of 122 twins.

The village of Velikaya Kopanya in the Zakharpatia Oblast Region of south-western Ukraine has a population of less than 4,000. But the total number of twins among them is 122 which is a huge number for such a small space.

This village of twins has already made its way into the record books of Ukraine, and may even make it to the Guinness Book of World Records.

According to the local people, the number of twins born in this village is more than in other parts of the country.

Local councillor Mariana Savka said: “In 2004, the baby boom was there. But since then, we have at least two to three twins a year.”

Local villagers believe that the ‘twins’ are caused by water which has healing properties.

Danila and Dimitro are twin brothers, they have only one difference that is the birthmark on their cheeks. He says that his teacher still finds it difficult to recognize them.

Igbo-ora is one of the most extraordinary discoveries in Nigeria, with 158 twins born for every 1000 births.

There are about 16 twins for every 1000 births in Europe and about 33 twins for every 1000 births in the United States. According to a study by British gynaecologist Patrick Neelander between 1972 and 1982, an average of 45 to 50 sets of twins per 1000 children was recorded in the southwest.

Located at a distance of 80 km from Lagos in Oyo State, this city is known as a quiet town, mostly made up of farmers and traders. The city is reputed as the twins capital of the world.

With more twins being born in Igbo-ora than anywhere else in the world, walking through the city you might think that almost everyone looks alike. There is a twin in every house here.

Mohammadpur Umri, India:

The village of Mohammadpur Umri is located near Allahabad at the confluence of the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna.

Out of 300 households, 54 pairs are twins. Alexander writes, “In India, a mother has a 1 in 80 chance of having twins and a 1 in 300 chance of having identical twins.

However, one in every ten births is identical twins.” The village is proud to have a monozygotic (MZ) or identical twin birth rate, which is over 300 times the national average and one of the highest around the globe.”

Scientists, doctors and villagers have differing views on why the number of twins is unusual in this region.

The incident started about 40 years ago when an air force base was established near the village. Some believe that the station’s experimentation system is the cause. Others believe that there is something in the soil and water or that it is a “gift of God”.

Perhaps more interestingly, Umri also has a double cow and a buffalo, as well as a hen that lays a double egg.
